What businesses see, what employers can’t, and how commerce stays on permission.

Everything in this topic.

What does a business see when I connect with it?
Exactly what you approved — typically a display name and a loyalty account, plus a customer ID. Not your phone number, email, address or birthday. The request screen shows what’s asked and what isn’t, before you decide.
Can a business message me whenever it wants?
Only within the relationship you accepted — and you can mute, restrict or disconnect at any time. Commercial communication is identified as commercial, so an offer never masquerades as a personal message.
What happens when I disconnect from a business?
Their access ends instantly: messaging rights, loyalty communication, profile visibility — gone. Unlike your phone number, which stays in a database forever, a revoked permission actually revokes.
What does my loyalty account survive?
Everything a phone number doesn’t: SIM changes, device changes, number changes. Loyalty attaches to your persistent Dynamic ID™, so you stay a Silver member even with a brand-new number.
Can businesses target me with ads based on my chats?
No. Commercial reach can be based only on relationships, subscriptions, declared status and preferences you chose. Private chats, calls, files and your personal relationship graph are prohibited targeting bases — by rule, not by setting.
I run a business — why should I use OBolo instead of collecting numbers?
Because permission beats the blast: you get a persistent customer identity that survives SIM churn, a verified channel customers actually open, loyalty that never loses members, and none of the data liability of storing phone numbers. See OBolo for Business.
What is a Company Space?
An independently governed environment for a verified organisation: membership, roles, departments, groups, announcement channels and audit — your organisation’s private, secured internal platform. See OBolo for Organisations.
Can my employer see my personal chats?
No. Company Spaces govern company activity only. Your personal LifeSpaces, chats, files and relationships sit outside institutional authority — by architecture, not by policy promise.
What happens when I leave a job?
Company access ends immediately; company data stays with the company; your identity and everything personal continues untouched. If you rejoin later, it’s the same Dynamic ID™ with fresh membership approval.
How do organisations get started?
Through a conversation — tell us about your teams, departments and policies on the contact page and we’ll map them onto a pilot Company Space.
