What is OBolo?
OBolo is a privacy-first digital identity and relationship platform — the Operating System for Trusted Digital Life. Today, the free app gives you private messaging, group chats, polls, sub-groups, media sharing and disappearing messages. Underneath it sits the Dynamic ID™ architecture: one verified identity you use for everyday relationships instead of handing out your phone number.
Is OBolo free?
Yes. OBolo is free to download and use on both the App Store and Google Play.
Where can I download OBolo?
On Google Play for Android, and on the App Store for iPhone. Both links — and QR codes you can scan — are on our
download page.
Which devices does OBolo support?
Android phones via Google Play, and iPhone via the App Store (iOS 15.6 or later). The iOS app also runs on Apple Silicon Macs and Apple Vision.
How do I sign up?
Install the app, enter your mobile number, and verify it once with an OTP. That number becomes your private Registration Identity — it verifies you to OBolo and stops there. It is never shown to contacts, groups or businesses.
Why do you need my mobile number at all?
A verified number establishes that you are a real, accountable person — which is what makes OBolo trustworthy without being anonymous. It is used for verification, sign-in and recovery only. It is never a search handle, never shown publicly, and never shared with businesses or contacts.
Is OBolo a WhatsApp or Telegram alternative?
You can absolutely use OBolo for the same everyday messaging — chats, groups, media, polls. The difference is the foundation: on OBolo, your identity is a permission-based Dynamic ID™, not your phone number. Conventional messengers make your number the address; OBolo makes it private.
What makes OBolo different in one sentence?
Everyone else asks “what’s your number?” — OBolo asks “what would you like to share?”, and builds the entire platform around your answer.
Does OBolo work outside India?
Yes — the app is listed internationally on both stores. OBolo is Indian in origin and global in outlook.
What does “OBolo” mean?
It comes from “bolo” — “speak” — the everyday invitation to talk. OBolo is a place to speak freely, in the right context, with the right people, on your terms.
