Because life actually has that many textures — your cousin, your best friend and your gym are not the same kind of relationship. Defaults do the work: you classify once, and sensible behaviour follows automatically. You can fine-tune any relationship whenever you like.

Buddy is your closest circle — higher-frequency interaction and broader default sharing than Friends. Think “the people who’d have a key to your house”.

Yes, at any time. A Network contact can become a Friend, then a Buddy, as trust grows. The underlying identity and history never change — only the context and defaults do.

Classification is yours alone. Trust is mutual, but control is individual — the same relationship may be classified differently by each side, and neither sees the other’s choice.

No. Commercial relationships live in the Commercial LifeSpace and are purpose-limited by architecture. Earning your loyalty points never earns access to your family photos.

Future access ends, per the relationship lifecycle: you can restrict, pause or close — each a distinct state. Closure removes access going forward while history is handled under your controls and published policy.
